Galapagos Islands Cruise – part 1

While I have been on many cruises–to the Caribbean, Tahiti, Mediterranean and more, my current favorite is to the Galapagos Islands on the Celebrity Xpedition.

I am not an outdoorsy type–I don’t like ‘dirt’ and I’m not a huge animal lover. In fact, I think puppies and kittens are very cute but prefer that other people have dogs and cats, although we’ve had more than our share of the latter over the last 40 years.

Well, I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the Galapagos Islands of Ecuador. And Celebrity offered a great vacation and a fantastic experience.

As soon as we arrived in Quito, Ecuador, at almost midnight due to a flight delay in Miami, we were taken care of, in style. From the headrest covers on the shuttle to the placemats on the chartered jet to the islands, they were embellished with an embroidered Celebrity logo that made me feel special. Our very nice guide escorted us to the hotel for our two-night stay.

When we arrived at the J. W. Marriott hotel, we had a very nice room which had THE most beautiful roses on the bed for us. We later found out that Ecuador provides most of our roses in the U.S.

The next morning we were given breakfast at the hotel and then we were off to see the city.

Check back soon for part 2 of my Galapagos vacation.
