A day in Paris before embarking on a Seine River cruise:
Arrival in Paris – we stayed one night at Grand Hotel DeChampaigne, a 3 star hotel in the 1st Arrondissement (district) of Paris, convenient to the Louvre and Tuileries Gardens.
We walked across the bridge over the river Seine and a couple blocks to Musée d’Orsay, a former train station, with five floors of fantastic artworks. We saw paintings from Renoir, Monet, Van Gogh, Gauguin as well as sculptures from Degas and Rodin, to mention just a few.
Too bad I didn’t think to put more comfortable shoes on before walking to the museum. Although it wasn’t that far, I was wearing new shoes that ended up giving me blisters on both little toes.
The next morning we walked along the Avenue des Champs-Élysées and up to the Arc de Triomphe before taking the Metro to Galleries Lafayette for some ‘window shopping’.
Stay tuned for my next blog post about my Avalon Waterways cruise on the River Seine from Paris to the Normandy Beaches.
Enjoyed your cruise & Paris. Brings back memories of our visits to france. Ship is beautiful. Hope your blisters are all healed. Sandra
Yep, band aids on my toes work wonders. Thanks!
